The front and back sides are the same work, made of a single layer of thin silk.
It is subtly transparent, showing off the luxurious mood that thick silk threads express.
 
The window paper is a motif of this design.  If you hang as window(or door) frame, it could act as a shade or divider that you can see the outside or the other area through, which can creat mysterious atmosphere.
